I was brought onto this project with Uber by Carolyn Draayer Photo + Film — she needed a second camera op to help out with event coverage of Uber at the Minnesota hosted Super Bowl. Uber was looking for event coverage to highlight how their services make crowded events like a Super Bowl much more accessible.
Carolyn and I filmed one and a half days of events, including being at ground zero, US Bank Stadium, before and after the Super Bowl itself. Thankfully, it was 0° degrees outside, which made moving around capturing Uber drivers picking up and dropping off football fans a real treat (just a note of sarcasm).
Super Bowl Sunday was without a doubt about as cold as I’ve ever been — several layers both on top and bottom, gloves, boots, hand warmers, toe warmers, nothing was warm enough to fight the cold — my mental fortitude to fight the cold was certainly tested.
Before the Super Bowl, during “Super Week” or whatever they call it, I also teamed up with Landon Oldenburger Videography to cover a team from Great Clips participating in a polar plunge on Nicollet Avenue in single degree weather. The cold weather didn’t stop hundreds of corporate groups from participating to raise money for a good cause. It sure was fun to be freezing my tail off and to see people jump into a pool of warm water and pop out into frigid Minnesota conditions.
LOV put together a highlight video of the event seen here.
