I teamed up with Landon Oldenburger (LOV) and Sun Country Airlines to profile a new project from the airline to showcase their Minnesota connection. Each plane in the Sun Country fleet was set to be named after a Minnesota lake — they hired a local artist to make a unique portrait of some of Minnesota’s most notable lakes for each plane.
In order to commemorate the launch of this Hometown Lakes Project, Sun County wanted a short video to kick it off and showcase the artist behind the wonderful portraits, Mark Herman.
Landon and I met at Mark’s studio to shoot a brief interview about his process, conception and completion of this project. We were advised to leave a light footprint in Mark’s studio space — so this shoot was more documentary and “run and gun” than a traditional interview set up.
With one light, two cameras and a sound tech, we profiled Mark and this project with a quick half day of production.
My contribution to the project was shooting all the interviews, some of the b-roll and taking some high quality photos of Mark in his work space. I also gave creative thoughts to Landon as he worked through the edit process in post production.
