This is the second year I helped shoot this event for Make-A-Wish and Sun Country Airlines.
The event was the same as last year, but just in case you don’t know what this wonderful “trip” is all about, read on.
No the kids didn’t really fly anywhere — but they were given the entire experience minus the flight. The kids showed up to the ticket counter to get their official airline tickets and seats, went through security, headed for their gate (where plenty of Minnesota mascots waited to greet them) and got onto the humming aircraft. The plane circled the tarmac a few times, the attendants fed the kids a meal and then adventure arrived at their destination, the North Pole!
All the volunteers transformed the receiving gate into a winter wonderland with spirited holiday decor complete with a Santa Claus waiting to hear what each child wanted for Christmas. It was very touching experience to see these kids and their families light up with joy throughout the event.
All us videographers had to do was capture the radiating joy. All the footage I shot was on my Canon 5D Mark III.
